Fall planting experiments are revealing interesting results as spring arrives across the Northern Hemisphere. Follow the 45°N latitude line across North America to find gardens emerged this week in Vermont, New York, Wisconsin, Ontario, and New Hampshire. As snow piles receeded, tulips had already emerged in some gardens.

Palmer, Alaska is located 40 miles northeast of Anchorage at 61°N. The Test Garden here lies in a river valley between two glaciers. Their pussy willows were out on April 10th in 2014. How does this garden profile compare to your own?
