Letter From Estela Romero: Monarch Activity Persists

“Si pudiéramos hacer que estas imágenes duraran lo más posible”

Greetings friends,

High temperatures continue to disturb the dormant status of Monarchs. Monarchs have now concentrated at their overwintering spots in Sierra Chincua and El Rosario sanctuaries, showing once again that they are exceptionally resilient species.

During a dry winter, temperatures have again increased just this past weekend, visibly disturbing monarchs’ dormant status. They appear to have excessive activity during the day.

Climate shall determine the moment the decline of the season begins. Concern accompanies delight and gratitude for the unique phenomenon as temperatures could increase too early this winter.

Local crafts and gastronomy delight our local and foreign visitors.

Celso and Nicolás, both born and living at El Rosario ejido sing about our local life, traditions, and monarchs.
