Highlights: Nearing the Home Stretch!
Connect the dots? That's hard to do, because so many new ones popped up on the Rubythroat map this week! Play the week-by-week animation to see for yourself where these frantic flyers have been spotted. >>

Rufous hummers continue trickling eastward, feeding on abundant wildflowers and insects at high elevations. They need to bulk up for their trips south, which begin as early as mid-July! Did you know that Rufous hummers travel farther north than any other hummingbirds: up to 61N latitude? Check our live map. How close are the northern sightings in Alaska to this limit? >>

Don't forget to read what some keen-eyed observers shared this week: Hummingbird Action reports! > Then, come back next week for another short update, and keep looking and listening for hummers near you!

Journal: Pictures Tell a Story

What can you discover when you visit a Rufous nest stuffed with two nestlings? Use your observation skills, then write about what you see in your Hummingbird Journal!
