A few days of southern winds and more rubythroats have been spotted along the Gulf Coast. Traffic will slow down as a cold front brings rain this week. Most rufous sightings are males. Find out why they are seen first. What do you wonder about hummingbirds? A poster of pictures showing hummers doing various things. Study them like a scientist. Highlights:
"It is again like clockwork. We are greeted by at least one Ruby-Throat this morning at our feeder," writes one observer in Texas. The past couple of days have brought southern winds across the Gulf and a
nother handful of rubythroats were reported. This week there is a cold front bringing rains to the central US and Gulf coast. Any migrating hummers arriving will be forced to land, so keep yours eyes open and your feeders filled. By the weekend there should again be some good southerly winds and more birds arriving.

In the meantime, what can you learn about this incredible migration from other Journey north observers?

"I heard a humming sound and saw a male rufous on one of the feeders. Not long afterward another male rufous showed up and the first battle of the year began." writes one hummingbird observer. So far, most observers have reported only male birds of both species. What do you think is going on? Let's explore this question:
