Ruby-throat Reachs 38°N
Taking advantage of southern winds this week, a Ruby-throat made it to Bicknell, Indiana (38.7°N). Watch the wind to predict where and when Rubies will arrive in your backyard. Last week brought 90 new sightings — most located between 32.5°N and 35°N.

Rufous Find Ready Habitat
Rufous are showing up early in Alaska and northern British Columbia this spring. Several have been reported around Juneau where salmon berries and blueberries are now in bloom. To the south, some Rufous are getting ready for nesting season.

"An adult male Rufous Hummingbird showed up today. This is the earliest in 24 years of keeping arrival data."

Western Species Highlights
Many more Black-chinned sightings came in this week from Texas. One lucky observer saw his first Ruby-throat and first Black-chin on the same day. Anna's made their way up the Pacific Coast to Sitka, Alaska.

"First Rufous today, also saw a male Anna's at the feeder — the first time I've sighted this species here."
