News: Arriving with Orioles
The first week of May has brought an explosion of hummingbird sightings pushing the leading edge of the ruby-throat migration up to 45°N.

Ruby-Throats
Keep your eyes open and your feeders filled! Favorable migration conditions are forecast early this week, then low pressure in the East will ground hummers for your viewing.

Along with this week's numerous first hummingbird sightings came a great number of excited oriole observers.

Rufous Spread East
Meanwhile rufous continue pushing east with numerous sightings in Montana and central British Columbia this week.

"Heard a humming bird flying around outside as soon as I put my feeder out today."

Western Species Highlights
Black-chinned, calliope, Anna's, and broad-tailed hummers continue to arrive in the west where sightings include one above 7,000 feet.

"I was watering a flower bed when I got buzzed by a hummingbird. I went in and filled the feeder and it came back. Female black chinned."
