Revisit: Cyclone Hits a former Mystery Site

As you may have heard, this week a cyclone hit the nation of Myanmar, causing widespread devastation.

But did you know Yangon, Myanmar
(
16.783 N, 96.150 E)
was one of our Mystery Classes
last year?

Please keep Myanmar in your thoughts.

Here is what we learned about our Myanmar friends last year >>

Assessment: Documenting Student Understanding
Watching the wave of spring sweep northward is at the heart of Journey North. All seasonal change is driven by one underlying factor: the change in available sunlight. This includes:
  • The amount of time sunlight is available (daylength or photoperiod)

  • The sun's intensity (due to the angle at which it strikes the Earth).
Mystery Class challenged students to find the secret locations of 10 Mystery sites, using sunrise and sunset data as their primary clues. Here are assessment opportunities to help you document student understanding of key concepts, and plan for next year:

  • Also, see these additional assessment opportunities if you haven't already done so >>
