The Migration: What's Happening Now & What to Watch For

What's Happening Now
Robins are about to spread across the map! It's March and this is the month of peak robin migration. During January and February, robins were most concentrated in flocks in the southern states and along the Atlantic Coast, according to our observers. Relatively few spent the winter north of the United States border. In fact, of the 548 "waves" of robins reported, only 4 were reports from Canada. (Can you find which provinces?)

What to Watch For
Listen: Things are about to change! Only 20 people have reported singing robins so far. By mid-March, the robin chorus will extend for miles. We hope your robin will be among them! Get ready to listen. Everybody is depending on you!

Learn: Will you know if your first robin is a male or female? How can you tell when a robin is building a nest? Or when mother robin is sitting on her eggs? This Checklist of Spring Robin Observations will guide you. Share it with your family, friends, and neighbors near and far. Ask everyone to help watch for robins!
