Spring is Here! Symbolic
Monarchs Heading North |
The
real monarch butterflies are migrating north from Mexico right now,
and your Symbolic Monarchs are coming back too. All 70,000+ symbolic
butterflies are heading to Minnesota where we'll prepare them for
the final leg of their journey. It takes us six weeks to prepare
the packets. We mail them all out together so everybody receives
them no later than our deadline. Please mark your calendar:

Who
cared for your Symbolic Monarchs this winter? Kids who live
near the monarch's winter sanctuaries in Mexico. Here are
pictures of some of the classrooms. Maybe you'll find your
own symbolic monarch pictured here with the children who cared
for it this winter. >> |
This
tiny school is only a mile from the Sierra Chincua sanctuary.
Monarch butterflies fly over the playground during the day
as they come and go from the sanctuary. Students made a symbolic
sanctuary with the Symbolic Monarchs they received. Do you
see the butterflies hanging in the shape of a tree? >> |

Frida
is a student at Pedro Ascencio school. She took her symbolic
butterfly home to show her mom this winter, and a film crew
went with her. Enjoy the pictures—and find out whose
butterfly Frida has! >> |
This
year, some symbolic monarchs spent the winter at the actual
monarch butterfly sanctuaries in an exhibit. Children who
visited 'tagged' the monarchs and wrote a message. >> |
